interested in african culture?
everything bout the rainbow nation that lives in Cape Town - Xhosa, Zulu, San Bushmen, Ndebele, Cape Malay, Afrikaners ... their unique beliefs and traditions and art..

Set around a national park and floral kingdom, the mother city is Africa's most visited destination and acknowledged as one of the 10 most beautiful cities in the world (Conde Nast Traveller).

Enjoy a rainbow mixture of international and indigenous cuisine, endless shopping, international golf courses, spectacular scenery and architecture not to mention seeing the adorable African Penguin and the endangered Southern Right Whale...or diving with the Great White sharks of "Jaws" fame!

the Cape winelands

Spread around the mountains of the Cape are over 1000 wine estates. Spend time driving through the historic villages of Stellenbosch, Franschoek and Paarl to sample Huguenot chocolate, smelly goats' cheeses and the best of Cape wines - particularly the South African developed red Pinotage.

city inside a national park...

Cape Town provides the most spectacular views and vistas in the whole country. Whether from the top of Table mountain enjoying the sunset or from the southwestern most tip of Africa at Cape Point, or perhaps the view across False bay into the Southern oceans with a cool glass of bubbly, it will take your breath away.

7 years experience hosting hunters in Cape Town
  • The Victoria & Alfred Waterfront area offers one of the cities best shopping experiences in a safe and unhurried environment. Haggle your way to an African bargain at the Greenmarket Square curio market. Then, if you are looking for something special, we know just where to take you in and around Cape Town - gemstones, diamonds, tanzanites, tanned animal hides, leather goods, original artworks from rich oils to soft seascape watercolours, pottery, quilting, metalwork, wireart, beading...
  • Forming the most southwesterly peninsula on the African continent, Cape Point juts out into a treacherous ocean, beset by swirling currents and vicious winds. Many wrecks lie beneath the cool blue waters, ghost ships still plying the swells of one of the most feared stretches of sea on the high oceans. No visit to Cape Town would be complete without traversing both shores of the peninsula, taking in the seaside villages and their many trading stores, the penguin colony at Boulders beach, the traditional harbour of Kalk Bay with its fine seafood and the wine estates of Constantia.
  • The Cape Peninsula is also a world-recognised "floral kingdom" - one of the smallest but also one of the richest. The stunning international award winning Kirstenbosch Botanical garden is the easy way to get acquainted with the Cape's Fynbos biome and the many birds it supports.
  • A ride up the cable car to the top of Table Mountain (or a strenuous hike) gives you a panoramic view across the city to Table Bay, both the Indian and Altantic oceans and down to Cape Point.
  • The Two Oceans Aquarium has been voted one of the best reproduced natural marine environments in the world and it is a must for all lovers of the deep blue sea.
  • Well documented records, recovered wrecks, rare artefacts and restored buildings all provide fascinating insight into the arrival of the Dutch merchants, the slave trade and the eventual British and Apartheid order. The many museums and monuments around the city provide a wholesome picture of Cape Town's early beginnings.
  • Robben Island, a visit to understand the political and freedom struggle endured by Nelson Mandela. Walk through the old prison cells and see the quarry where much of the city's lime came from.
  • The history of the first indigenous peoples, the San and the KhoiKhoi, has recently received interest and funding for a museum of its own and is one of the major attractions in the 'cradle of mankind' - spend a luxurious night out under the African stars after a private viewing of San rock art.
  • The BoKaap or Malay quarter provides a spicy eastern flavour to the cultural integration and slave trade of early Cape Town. Originally brought to the Cape as exiles and slaves the people from the east have carved a place in South Africa's history which is both colorful and tasty.
  • The majority of South Africa's people live in Townships, a conglomeration of roughly constructed shacks on open ground which many call home. Initiated by the British to control migrant or native labour, the townships were the nucleus in the struggle to overthrow the Apartheid order. Today they provide a fascinating insight into the lives of most black South Africans.
  • The firing of the Noon Gun disturbs the air over the mother city each day. Stand by and watch the massive 17th century cannon blast its plume of white smoke to signal midday.
  • If you are an avid 'twitcher' or just a lover of our avian cousins, the western Cape offers a full complement of new species and challenging birding venues. Most notable are the many seabirds frequenting our shores during the winter months and the tiny jewel colored sunbirds. Typically, it is easy to 'tick' off over 100 species from your list in a day or two including a couple of the hard to get Cape birds.
  • Although largely devoid of wildlife, many forward thinking conservationists are re-introducing game to the Western Cape last seen over 200 hundred years ago and it's now possible to see the Big 5 and a variety of South Africa's indigenous plainsgame just outside Cape Town - all malaria free.
  • lastly, a great opportunity to pamper yourself after your hard, dirty hunting...deep tissue massage, relaxing spas....
garden route
If you have the time, this is a spectacular drive along the southern coast of Africa from Cape Town in the west to Port Elizabeth on the east coast.

The Garden Route is not a tour of cultivated gardens but home to South Africa’s magnificent primordial forests and rich fynbos vegetation and forms part of the Cape Floral Kingdom, the richest botanical formation in the world.

Hugging the coast, there is ample opportunity to wonder at the sea life: the endangered Southern Right whale, the Great White shark and numerous species of dolphin.

Added to this is great shopping, excellent seafood and a haven of artists etc.........

victoria falls
If you are in Africa you really shouldn't miss Victoria Falls, one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. Where the mighty Zambezi river falls from into the depths of the earth, you'll find "musi-o-tunya" - the smoke that thunders guarded by the River God Nyami-Nyami.

This is classic Africa - the quest of Dr David Livingstone... Nowadays you can have sundowners on a river cruise, fly over the falls and into the spray, bungee jump into The Boiling Pot gorge or brave white-water rafting through the Falls' seven gorges. You can also shop for African curios, buy valuable relics from Dr Livingstone's age or gamble away your hunting fortunes!

We have special hunters' packages to the Victoria Falls - email Pete for more information.
