good books
Lots of you out there looking for a good mammal guide - our recommendations are "The Behavior Guide to African Mammals: Including Hoofed Mammals, Carnivores, Primates" by Richard Estes and "Mammals of Southern Africa: A Field Guide"
by Burger Cillié - both available from Amazon at US$30 each.

zambian elephant
There's still no clarity on whether it's going ahead this year - despite intentions to re-launch Zambia on to the elephant hunting scene, there is still legislation in place that makes elephant shooting illegal - and to date, we haven't actually heard of anyone who is going after elephant this year...
forcing change?
Moves are afoot in South Africa to review the issuing of permits for sensitive species such as leopard, lion, elephant. It's proposed that the issuing of a permit will be decided on how the PH/outfitter is contributing to Black Economic Empowerment, the conservation of the species as well as social responsibility.
great video...
A lion video with a difference - Kamunyak is a lonely young female lion who adopts a new born oryx calf as her own. Her behaviour baffles the experts and delights the Samburu locals who call her "the blessed one". Watch "The Heart of a Lionness" currently showing on Animal Planet http://animalplanet.co.uk |

| Victoria Falls |
Fly over it, bungee jump into it, gorge swing it, riverboard it, abseil it or elephant ride it.... visiting Victoria Falls is the ultimate end to your safari whether you're in Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia or South Africa.
One of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World, Victoria Falls was the quest of explorer Dr David Livingstone who followed God's Highway (the Zambezi river) to find Africa's most precious jewel - musi-o-tunya" - the smoke that thunders...
It's an easy flight - accommodation is superb and you can indulge in just about anything! EMAIL US |
| guns in south africa - disaster area? |
As the safari season kicks into gear, reports are already coming in of problems importing weapons at Johannesburg International Airport. We were lucky enough to spend a few hours sitting at the Firearms Office and here are some of our observations...
More than 90% of the problems were to do with....incorrect documentation brought by hunters - no export documents, application forms filled in wrong, too much ammunition, too many guns...
We have prepared a document to help you through this process. Please forward it to anyone hunting in South Africa this year as this is such an easy process compared to other African hunting countries. Download it now or click to our website
