2006 - Zambia

Lion, Leopard, Buffalo, Elephant, Sitatunga, Sable ....

Well the new year is upon us and I must apologize to all our subscribers as this newsletter went offline from around July.

In 2006 I have moved back to my home country, Zambia, and will be providing you with detailed information about concessions, safari operators, game ranches, government laws, taxidermists and add on or side trips to your safari.

In addition I am in direct contact with the Professional Hunters Association of Zambia as well as the relevant wildlife authorities. If you need to check something or someone out or have a problem after having hunted in Zambia, you will be able to call on me to help!

Lion - Zambia is your best bet for big Lion over the next few years. Since hunting re-opened in 2003 some monsters have been taken and, the recent move reducing Lion and Leopard quota in most hunting concessions is a step in the right direction. Lion are going to be scarce for 2006 with most operators having sold their quota already. We have one left in the north Luangwa Valley. email me for details

Leopard - Zambia has no shortage of this bad tempered, elusive cat and if you choose a concession with a track record then your patience will be rewarded. I was outwitted once and then almost mauled, 3 times, when my shotgun misfired on the last cat hunt of the season. If you want some heart pumping adrenaline, then try get into a Leopard hunt for 2006.

Elephant - The Luangwa Valley and the Zambezi valley are the two regions where you can hunt Elephant in Zambia. In the Zambezi valley you are hunting across the river from Zimbabwe's famous National parks. If you are up to a tough but rewarding hunt I can get you onto a 60lb Elephant!

Buffalo - our buffalo were fantastic in 2005, with each hunt proving a challenge and a well worked for reward. The buffalo that frequent the Kafue concessions just seem to be bigger and meaner. For 2006 we offer both the Kafue and the Luangwa valley, famous for its great herds. Kafue is good early on while Luangwa tends to be better towards the end of the year if you can bear the heat.

We have the Buffalo, Hippo and Croc. special package available for 2006, however for the cheaper package the dates are very limited. email me for details

The antelopes - over the last 3 years Zambia has produced Africa's largest Sable. Added to this, you can realistically hunt for large Roan, the endemic Kafue and Black Lechwes, Sitatunga, Livingstones Eland, Kudu and more.

BOW HUNT - our new game ranch, Mzimbili, is fantastic for big Kudu, Livingstone's Eland, Sable, Hartebeest, Puku, Impala, Zebra and Waterbuck. The dense vegetation make this an excellent BOW hunting ranch.

Sitatunga & the swamps - for the first time the Bangweulu swamps has been given buffalo quota so now you can hunt the most challenging spiral horn as well as get your adrenalin pumping after Buff.
