Hunting has been my interaction with nature and the wilderness, I know no other form, not in the sense of pursuit, but rather an induction which instilled a lifelong love for all that is wild. No matter where I am, there is not a day that harkens to the fresh morning smell of wet grass and the unworldly call of the ground Hornbill.
SafariBwana has been my passion and life work for the last 14 years, starting as one of the very first African hunting information resources on the web and becoming a path where I have been able to enjoy hunting in many different parts of Africa with clients who are now close friends.
The key to a successful hunt for me has always been about knowing what to expect - be it PH or client - what you will be faced with throughout your adventure - and I have over the years ended up with a handful of hunting favorites - those places in Africa that make me feel proud to take friends and clients to - places that I would call home - in a sense the Africa I feel close enough to for others to enjoy.
Telling it like it is has been the driving force behind SafariBwana - whether it means providing information or promoting a safari, I am always up front - and today I am proud to say that many people look at the website I have created and myself as a ‘no bull’ type of organization.
I have hunted all my life and do not believe in all the hype that we have created around a very simple activity like hunting. The fact that we are pursuing large dangerous game does not make Safari hunting a glamorous ‘sport’ and in my eyes - someone who has been amongst these creatures since birth - there is a growing disrespect for nature in the way we vilify Africa's most magnificent animals.
This is not true hunting - it is something which hunting has become to fulfill desires, needs, egos and pockets - it is plain disrespect for what we have left in Africa today and I do not ascribe to it.
I am a professional hunter - in the old sense - I believe in tradition and I believe in true ethics, not those written down for PH’s to follow, true ethics come from within - I believe in hunting and the role it plays in conservation BUT most of all I believe in respect - respect for the wildlife we pursue and utilize to our own means and for those who I lead out into the field each day.
