Zambia is one of Africa’s classic safari destinations offering some of the best fair chase hunting and trophies available today in a climate that is politically stable and historically well adapted to trophy hunting.

Hunting in Zambia is a true wilderness hunt from the outset; you will hunt out of a camp that is not fenced, is rustic, built out of grass and trees cut for poles with open air sides. You will have lion and leopard walking past your tent or chalet at night, you will hear elephant drinking out of your shower bucket. Typically your hunting concession is not going to be smaller than 3000 square kilometers and each day you will see good numbers of game and usually come home to camp with a trophy for the day. In all aspects, this is real hunting and should never be compared to any big game hunting safari offered in South Africa or Namibia.

about our hunts in Zambia
I am a 4th generation Zambian and have been hunting the Luangwa, the Kafue and the Zambezi wilderness since I was 15 years old. In 1997 I had enough of working for other operators and I started out on my own.

Through my company, safaribwana.com I offer hunting safaris in selected concessions and countries that I have personally hunted in and experienced. I have hunted in Botswana, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Namibia and Malawi and in the end I always return to my homeland, Zambia because of the magnificent hunting there. Without a doubt, Zambia offers hunting in the true sense with a wide variation of trophy species and habitat.

I only sell safaris in Zambia that I can personally conduct, and the concessions I use are hand picked from my years of experience of actually hunting in each one.

Each year Zambia produces not only big trophies but also the hunting experience of a lifetime, I invite you to join me in the footsteps of the great explorers.

Zambia is your best bet for big Lion over the next few years. Since hunting re-opened in 2003 some monsters have been taken and the recent move reducing Lion and Leopard quota in most hunting concessions is a step in the right direction. Prices have increased steadily and will continue to do so, so do not think that you can wait for a better deal.

Leopard in Zambia are plentiful and we take some big boys each season however the hunt is expensive if compared to other countries. It is a true hunt in the sense that you bait the cat instead of running it down with dogs or bushmen trackers.

Buffalo are widespread throughout the country but the great numbers are found in the Luangwa Valley where herds of over 1000 animals are not an uncommon sight.

Sable in Zambia are spectacular and there currently is no other country that can even come close to the size of bulls being taken. In 2006 the new world record Sable of 53" was taken in the Kafue GMA of Mumbwa West.

Zambia also has an impressive list of "specials" including the elusive Sitatunga, Kafue & Black Lechwes (which are only found in Zambia), Cookson's Wildebeest (only found in Luangwa Valley), Puku, Oribi & Yellow backed duiker.

Other species which are easily hunted in Zambia are: Roan, Livingstone's Eland, Kudu, common & Defassa Waterbuck, Chobe Bushbuck, Crocodile, Hippo plus all the other more common plains species.
