| Trophy hunting throughout South Africa - more than a 'Texas-style' ranch shoot | |||||||||||
It has
always been my strategy to hunt an
animal in its natural surroundings,
the area where it has thrived and
reproduced over the centuries. The
reasons are obvious: not only do you
hunt an animal whose sense and
survival instincts are adapted to its
terrain and habitat but you also get a
better choice of trophy quality.
It makes sense: when you want to hunt for more than just the average record book trophy then you go to where they are biggest and that place is their home range! All hunts are designed with your priority species in mind. This involves travel between provinces after the indigenous species of each of the regions we hunt in. Usually 2 to 4 prime species make the core of the hunt, spending time to properly hunt for them and not merely shooting the first one seen. Some species do well throughout the country and usually make up the remainder of one's trophy list. Ideally we recommend a 10 to 14 day hunt which will take in 2 or 3 regions of South Africa providing not only hand selected properties to hunt but also an insight to our magnificent country and the many other attractions it has to offer. Simply put, our hunts do not confine you to one region or property nor do they restrict your movements or requirements with upgrades or add-ons for menial things like collecting you from the airport? We are at your service from arrival to departure and our rates are structured for flexibility to suit each hunter. |

Kwazulu Natal's Zululand - this far north- eastern region of South Africa is probably the closest you'll come to experiencing what the rest of Africa looks and feels like. The region is Nyala country with stretches of impenetrable bush and forest making perfect habitat for this spiral horned antelope. Our properties here also hold supreme Southern Greater Kudu in the mid 50" class. The specials for Natal are Red Duiker and Suni with common Reedbuck, Zebra, Impala, Warthog, Blue Wildebeest, Waterbuck, Duiker and Bushbuck being common. Every year, some of the game reserves auction hunts to help them control numbers. Buffalo, Nyala and Kudu are usually the main species on offer. |

| Free State Province - named by the early Dutch or Boer settlers fleeing British subjugation, the Free State is the range of the comical Black Wildebeest and keen sighted Springbok. Troops of Blesbok, Red hartebeest and Eland wander the plains while mountain Reedbuck inhabit the towering cliffs. Best known for Black Wildebeest, common and white blesbok, common, black and white springbok, Mountain Reedbuck and Steenbok. Other species are Eland, Red Hartebeest, Waterbuck and Kudu. Centrally situated, the Free State is usually a hunting destination en route to or from the Cape. | |||||||||||

The sands of the Kalahari extends across six countries with Botswana being the heart and most typical representation. The prince of the desert, the magnificent Gemsbok or Oryx is the primary quarry here. Red Hartebeest, Blue Wildebeest, Kalahari Springbok, Cape Eland, Steenbok and Duiker are also endemic to the region. Our hunting property offers South Africa's most remote hunt, being the furtherst north one can travel along the countrys western border. Here hunting is a different experience |

| The Cape - The coastal belt of South Africa is probably the most visited in the country with the Eastern Cape having a great number of 'package' hunters each year and the western Cape seeing more tourists. There are however hunting ranches which offer a challenging hunt for hard-to-come-by species like the Grey or Vaal Rhebok, Bontebok, Cape Kudu, Cape Bushbuck, Cape Grysbuck, Blue Duiker and the mighty Cape Eland. Other species available but not necessarily endemic are: Gemsbok, Black Wildebeest, Red Lechwe, Waterbuck, Blue Wildebeest, Red Hartebeest, Springbok, Blesbok and Duiker. The Cape is usually an essential part of any South African safari due to the magnificent Garden route, Cape wine region and Cape Town - we usually recommend starting or ending a safari here. | |||||||||||

Limpopo Province - Traditionally the best southern Greater Kudu come from this region, especially the bushveld surrounding the Limpopo river. It is also known as South Africa's big game country due to the many game ranches and reserves surrounding the Kruger park and Buffalo and Elephant are periodically available as part of culling or crop raiding programmes. Other species which feature here are common Waterbuck, Blue Wildebeest, Limpopo Bushbuck, Impala, Warthog, Zebra, Eland and Red Hartebeest. Sable and Roan also occur although are introduced. |
